Monitor for CAD?

Using a standard older 17 inch. Thinking about getting at least a 19" flat panel
monitor, maybe bigger. What's your opinion with these flat, wide screen monitors?
Are they better than the old standard ones?

Be careful with the aspect ratio.

a 19" widescreen is very cheap but is shorter than a 17" (because of the 16:9 instead of 4:3).

Go atleast 21" if you can afford it.

Recently I got a 24" widescreen, it's great. I'd have a hard time going to anything smaller now.

Check out the brightness, contrast ratio, response time (unless your a gamer it doesn't need to be really fast) and mostly dpi.  I have a Dell 24" ultra sharp, very nice.

We'll have two soon... (When exactly, I don't know)

Right now just a single... and I like it.

If you go Wide Screen I would make 22 as my minimum size.

Two Monitors

I prefer a single wide-format 24" or bigger.  At work I now use two 19" regular width monitors but at home I use a single wide format 24".  I MUCH prefer the 24" even though it has less screen area.

I have two 19" Philips flat-panel and it's great.
One note, flat screens connected to digital DVI are less tiering than those connected to dual analog. I have dual DVI at home and dual analog at my office, and the difference is BIG.
