Plotting Cross-sections with plot group style
« on: October 02, 2009, 09:03:54 AM »
This might be a stupid question, but is it possible to change the number of sheets in a column when plotting the multiple cross-sections?

I don't use the sheet styles because I can see how it resemble a sheet.  There are nowhere a place to adjust the sheet sizes.

At the moment, there are 5 sections in a column.  I would like to have 4 in a column.  I can move them manauly, but that is useless.  If I update the section view layout, it moves back to 5 sections per column.

what version are you using there Willie?

as they recently removed the option you are after...

You are going to want to use Group >> All
and then take a look at an earlier post regarding converting those sheets to usable saved views for easier plotting of your cross section sheet; as autodesk left that tool out of the Plan Production tools.  Because you know engineers never plot cross section sheets as part of their plan set.  ;)

I am on 2010.  Sorry for not mentioning it.

I couldn't agree more.

In, south Africa,  I am used to just giving a vertical alignment and a horizontal alignment with coordinates tables with X, Y and Z info.  We just gave one or two typical cross-sections showing what happens with the batters and table drains.  The vertical alignments had design levels for the left, center adn right edge of bitumen.  The contractor pegged out the centerline and then the left and right edge levels just by using the vertical alignment. We only plotted cross-sections like that for the design of the road.  Drawings with cross-sections never left the office.

Now in Australia, we issue drawings with cross-sections as part of the construction drawings.

Something new I pick up over the weekend about the cross-sections in Civil 3D.   :|

As soon as you have more than 25 cross-sections in a group,  Civil 3D puts 6 in a column. Less than 25 and you get 5 in a column.   5 sections fits nicely unto a A3.  If you have six, you have to move them around to fit on A3.  And the group plot style is the same for the different groups.

This is really a pain.

that would be another reason to do them By Page....when you plot multiple sections....
