Title: Xref Properties
Post by: PHX cadie on March 05, 2008, 02:27:01 PM
Sometimes I like to check the insertion, scale, etc of a Xref, clk on it and the properties box tells what I'd like to know. Then other times, (other dwgs ? ?) the Xref is listed as an insert in the properties box and doesn't tell me anything useful. I don't think I was clk'ing on a inserted block.

If they all were Xrefs why would they be listed differently, is there a trick to get props to list the scales, insertion, etc?

Thx's

This suggest one try the old command LIST and then touch your XREF as below:

Command: LI LIST
Select objects: 1 found

Select objects:

                  BLOCK REFERENCE  Layer: "0"
                            Space: Model space
                   Handle = bb4
       Block Name: "8-008 BMP 25-2_320"
                  External reference
                at point, X=   0.0000  Y=   0.0000  Z=   0.0000
   X scale factor:    1.0000
   Y scale factor:    1.0000
   rotation angle:      0
   Z scale factor:    1.0000
         InsUnits: Feet
  Unit conversion:    1.0000
  Scale uniformly: No
  Allow exploding: Yes

Thought maybe I was mistaken, but just today I clk'd on a xref and it was listed as a insert. Next time it happens, I'll list it!

Thank You!

I don't remember seeing this happen, could the bad xref be nested?

could the bad xref be nested?

Possible, but with company standards xrefs are always overlays.
I keep an eye open for that.

Tested nested xref theory.  If one selects nested xref and performs LIST on it it returns the parent Xref information.  If one then preforms XLIST it returns limited nested objects information. See Below:

Command: list

Select objects: 1 found

Select objects:

                  BLOCK REFERENCE  Layer: "0"
                            Space: Model space
                   Handle = 11e1
       Block Name: "8-008 BMP 25-2_320"
                  External reference
                at point, X=   0.0000  Y=   0.0000  Z=   0.0000
   X scale factor:    1.0000
   Y scale factor:    1.0000
   rotation angle:      0
   Z scale factor:    1.0000
         InsUnits: Feet
  Unit conversion:    1.0000
  Scale uniformly: No
  Allow exploding: Yes

Command: -xlist

Select nested xref or block object to list:
 Object:  BLOCK
 Block name:      11x17 40 Scale Plan-Profile Sheet
 Layer:   0
 Color:   Bylayer
 Linetype:    Bylayer
