Excel and Autocad Cell Dimensions
« on: October 13, 2011, 02:02:10 PM »
Hi,

I have been copying and pasting my excel tables into an AutoCAD drawing. I use the following method:

Command:pastespec
Paste as Link
AutoCAD Entities

This method works well as I can update the fields in my excel table and they will update in the drawing. AutoCAD must autofit the row and column height when you import. Is there a workaround so that AutoCAD will use the dimensions from your Excel table?

Thanks!!

There's a feature in AutoCAD to link Excel files so you won't have to keep copying/pasting each time you make an update.  I can't remember the name of the command at the moment and since I primarily use Revit, I'm getting further and further out of touch with AutoCAD (which isn't necessarily a BAD thing )

Yup, create a tablestyle that meets your needs, then data link tables using that style and they will always look correct. I use the hell out of data links, love them.
