... except Burst is in the expresstools and because of that it is not available to every user of AutoCAD.

[rant]
This question should be rephrased to let the user know that the tool is in the expresstools OR should not be used to determine if a person has general AutoCAD knowledge, as it is not a part of vanilla AutoCAD ... that would be akin to me asking someone what single command to use to generate a log home floor plan outline with 12" extensions at each corner or what single command to use to label a closed polyline with the SqFt and have it update automatically when the polyline changed, or perhaps what command to use to calculate the size of irrigation pump needed to irrigate an area specified by a closed polyline.[/rant]

Now where were we ... yep ... burst that'd be it .. unless you don't have expresstools, then you are SOL ... unless you write something yourself ... or get someone else to ...

Hi Keith.
Express Tools has been released with Autocad for a while now, as you know.

The Operative word in the Question is "command" ...

The thing I especially like about these question is the form of the questions themselves. My contention has always been that it is harder to ask good questions than to give good answers.

You are indeed correct, however, I would suspect that most installations of AutoCAD do not have them installed .. indeed at every job I have ever worked at, I had to specifically request that they find the installation CD and bring it to me so I could install them .. incidently, the ones that ship with AutoCAD are NOT the full ExpressTools package and they lack many of the good standby proggies that we have become accustomed to using.

I wouldn't have came to that conclusion, but you could be right ... So do lisp functions count as commands if they are not actually on the AutoCAD command stack?

Keith, I think you and I would actually answer most of these questions the same way..

If these tools are available, do this
otherwise, do this
or write code using these guidelines
or tell the inteviewer straight up that the questions are not explicit enought and baffle him with b/s getting him to ask the question so it only has one answer, if thats what he wants.

I hope lisp counts ... :)
I've woken up after 1 1/5 hrs sleep and I'm in no condition to make a case for something as nebulous as this.
