QSelect->No choice for selection

I don't have the option to use a selection in QSelect, only "Entire Drawing."  Anyone know what might cause this?  The button is grayed out and it's not available from the drop down.

Try "unchecking" the "Append to current selection set" box.

He's right that does grey out your selection button.
