DWG to PDF?
« on: April 06, 2007, 03:08:36 PM »

O.K.  I know there was a thread recently about converting PDF files
to DWF or DWG files. So the boss asked me to find a program or software
free or $$? that will convert ACAD drawings to PDF.  Any suggestions? I am looking to find something very user friendly and fast. What are you people using? Thanks for any suggestions!

What version of ACAD are you using?

Autocad 2007 has PDF writer as printer built-in.  (about time if I might add)  Prior to that we used PDF995 or Adobe.  Pdf995 is great and free however you have to deal with pop-up adds though I think license is $10/seat (Short after we loaded ACAD 07).  adobe is getting too pricey in my opinion.   both set up virtual printers so you make print pdfs with other software where as Acad 07 is only in Autocad.
I + XI = X is true ...  ... if you change your perspective.

I no longer CAD or Model, I just hang out here picking up the empties beer cans

I use PDF995.  I paid the $10 or whatever it was. It is easy, fast, and cheap.  And you don't find that very often.  ;-) :-D

Acroplot - www.cadzation.com

good for batch plotting & overriding plot settings to get what you want. Also has feature for transparency (but I haven't used it).
Designed for AutoCAD. File sizes are tight.

I use Ghostscript and Redmon. Gives me almost the same features as Acrobat Distiller.

I plt to plt files and  use the plt drivers from www.kipamerica.com. They are better IMO then hp hpgl2 drivers. Clearer priints, etc.

I then load the plt files into viewcompanion and it converts them all to pdf's as one document. ( www.softwarecompanions.com )

Ghostscript 8.53 with FreePDFXP3.07 (very user friendly and 15 languages supported).

The filesize of a PDF created with the build in plotter DWGtoPDF is to big.
