for the software place i was working they have stuff to do that like kitchen works, peddi-nest... or whatever but won't recommend them, since they let me go - so .... n.  :lol:  :-P

How about a database of the parts that you do make, including all pertinent info.
Test a piece of scrap for its pertinent info.
List possible candidates from the database where required info matches the scrap piece.
Some tolerance factors may be necessary for the step above.
Bring all candidates and the scrap together, then, using Lee's suggestion you will prolly soon find ways to automate it.
