Any pointers or resources for 3d.
We deal with electrical and mostly deal with 2d I have built some 3d in the past for MEP but guessed my way through it and this drawing.
I have only taken one course and failed it twice. Well the first time I did not recieve a F because I had back surgery and the second I could not find a reliable babysitter and missed too many classes.
The pipe at bottom, and beam are MEP entites exploded(used ExporttoAutoCAD2010 and made somethings non MEP look funny)
We are updating our details and something I started messing with.

How long should it take to do this drawing?

I forgot to Purge and clean-up drawing. How do I remove it and add the drawing back

The Beam could be made in cad with an extrusion.
The Pipe could be Lofted, as could your wires....
Other than practice, not much more I can add. Other than get familiar with the ALIGN command to save you some sanity.
And perhaps don't export the MEP stuff to autocrap. Just use those entities (or short versions of same) for your details.

Doesn't need to be... he used MEP which includes beam objects (if I remember correctly).

Wires.... maybe. Pipes.... NO! It's all part of MEP. You pick the size and material and you're done.
And perhaps don't export the MEP stuff to autocrap. Just use those entities (or short versions of same) for your details.
MEP IS AutoCAD.
I can't open the drawing because it's later than 2008. :( But as for "how long should it take" to create? That depends on your skill level and what you have for a base library of MEP objects. Based on my experience, I'd say probably no longer than 1 hour. You'll most likely spend more time tweaking things than actually modeling it.

Matt, Please note the use of the word COULD, as in could be done another way. I did not say it HAD to be done that way.
And YES I know MEP is sitting on top of autocad, and why it was suggested it NOT be exported out to do autocad stuff.
They were suggestions for the OP.

It took a little over a hour just getting a idea how long it would take to update details?

You will get faster...another idea...you might want to use MEP and define some really SMALL pipes to use as your Wires.

If you want your linework to actually follow the plot style then you need to make sure your viewports have "SHADE PLOT" set to "HIDDEN" -not- "3D Hidden" but "HIDDEN"
It's the only shadeplot setting aside from 2dWireframe that will actually pay attention to the plot style.

Whatcha mean by "small pipes" (to simulate wires?)
And why would you use "3D Hidden" ?
