Block attribute Question.
« on: December 17, 2004, 05:18:03 AM »
I've created a load of blocks for use in our every day work.

I've created all the blocks on layer zero and set the colour to byblock.
When I insert them into the drawing, the blocks are shown on the layer I inserted them on, and when I freeze that layer the attributes disappear.

Except when I DWF the drawings that is. Then when I freeze the corresponding layer the attributes are shown as being on layer 0, and are still on.

How do I set the attributes so they are controlled by the same layer as the block?

Could you upload one of the blocks by any chance?

Here is a copy of one our blocks.

The colour is set to by block for the block istelf, but the attributes are set to colour RED.

Should be a 2000, I've replaced it though, just in case it was corrupted.

I have just plotted a dwf, and could find no attributes. Maybe I am not following you (its nearly hometime for me!)
I will try to look into it again tomorrow if it has not been resolved

Sorry, I think I must have been having a "Blonde" moment yesterday.

I am really busy today, but will try to get back on it later this week if it hasn't been resolved.

Ok, when I PUBLISHED the drawing, I got the same results as Hudster, but I can't think of why that would happen...other than maybe it's simply the fact that the attribute's colour is set to ByBlock.
I don't know...it's weird.  Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

thanks for trying, this really annoys me, as the attributes have to have thier colour as red as part of our QA proceedures so I can't set them as byblock.

If the attributes ALWAYS have to be red, couldn't you just make them red in the definition of the block, while setting the linework of the block to Bylayer?  I don't know if this would buy you anything, but it's worth a try.  I dunno...*shrug*

At the moment, I use battman, to change the attribute layer to the same as the block.

I hoped there would be a better solution than this though.

Hi

I took your drawing "P001.dwg" and Inserted as a Block into drawing "P001_Test_MikePerry.dwg" -

P001_Test_MikePerry.dwg http://www.theswamp.org/lilly_pond/mikeperry/P001_Test_MikePerry.dwg?nossi=1

I then created DWF from drawing "P001_Test_MikePerry.dwg" -

P001_Test_MikePerry-Model.dwf http://www.theswamp.org/lilly_pond/mikeperry/P001_Test_MikePerry-Model.dwf?nossi=1

Everything looks good to me unless I'm not fully seeing / understanding the problem.... quite likely.

Have a good one, Mike
