This inst exactly what you want but still interesting way of creating text in CAD.

Very cool hyposmurf!  I tried it out and got exactly what I wanted (just took a minute more than I would have liked).



When I pasted the WordArt in from MSWord (paste special), I got outlined text with no fill.  But I was able to use bhatch to get the pink fill for "OUTLINED TEXT".  The technique was fast enough for small quantities of text although I suspect the entities take up a good deal more space than normal text.  But hey, not bad!
