Open file dialog not sorted properly
« on: March 28, 2006, 08:14:55 AM »
I have been having between 3 to 4 fatal errors everyday for the past week so I am fixing to reinstall AutoCad but I thought I would post this question first.  My 'File open' dialog box is not sorted by name anymore.  It's sorted by the newest file.  Is this a windows thing or is this an AutoCad thing?  Does anyone know where or how this is set for all of AutoCad?

I think that is a windows thing, in Windows 2000, right click in the white space not on a file name and select arrange icons.

That will work for the current session but when I close and restart AutoCad it's back to the modified setting. :realmad:

i view details in the open box, and click on name at the top.  that seems to lock it in

Perhaps it takes the settings from the windows "File Explorer".
Try displaying that folder in the explorer and setting the sort to "type", my favorite, close and see if acad changes.

Hi

Maybe...

ID: TS74320 - Sort order in Windows Explorer cannot be changed

Hmmm, I did not know MaxSort had an affect on file names listed in AutoCAD dialog boxes...

ID: TS52820 - Sort order of drawing names, layers, and blocks in dialog boxes

Have a good one, Mike
