Old School Civil 3D - 2005 Question
« on: July 31, 2013, 05:03:31 PM »
I am trying to remember back in Civil 3D 2005 or so that when you created an alignment and then a profile, you were able to drag your cursor over the profile part and if you had a second viewport or in model you could see a realtime perpendicular line that would follow the alignment as you dragged your cursor over the profile.
I hope that makes some sense.
I did not know if that was a variable to turn on or not.

Station Tracker? No idea where it is in 2005 but the command to turn it on is _AeccShowDrawingTips (at least in 2011)

EDIT:
From the CUI since I can't find it anywhere except on the Analyze ribbon
On in current viewport - _AeccShowDrawingTips
On in all viewports - _AeccShowDrawingTipsFull
Off - _AeccHideDrawingTips

Does anyone know what the command to do this is in Civil 3D 2014? I tried the above (including the underscore at the start) although it doesn't seem to be a recognised command. Thanks

Here are the commands used by the ribbon in 2012. I'm pretty sure 2014 is the same:

Command: _AeccStationTrackerSingle
Command:
Command:
Command: _AeccStationTrackerAll
Command:
Command:
Command: _AeccStationTrackerOptions
Command:
Command:
Command: _AeccStationTrackerOff

I've been wanting to get this working again, too.  Using C3D 2012, but enabling these commands still does nothing onscreen.  I split my viewports in MS to show the alignment and profile.

Could this be a graphics card lack or setting causing it to disreagrd this typw of functionality?  Or can you think of anything I might be missing?

Thanks.

<It also taught me again how useless the "help" is now - searching "station tracker" then even "tracker" and then in advanced search mode, with several options tried, I get a 1000 item list pretty much showing everything C3D has.  Yes, I'm sure it's in there somewhere, but not in any of the random topics I picked from that list.  Certainly no highlighting going on even when checked... but that's another rant>

Whoa!  Got this working by unloading the Raster Design menu!  Awesome!  (yet strange)

Thanks, all!  I'm C-Happy again!
