I have recently written a tutorial called "Getting Started with Dcl Dialogs",
http://web2.airmail.net/terrycad/Tutorials/MyDialogs.htm
There are examples of all of the basic dcl tiles with an accompanying AutoLISP function to load and control the dialogs. Also included is an example of hiding a dialog and selecting an object. There is several dialog control utilities included for working with dialogs. DclCalcs is a utility program for calculating the height and width of dialog tiles. It is especially helpful for calculating the height and width of image tiles based upon the ratio of pixels required. The last section of the tutorial covers an easy method for creating 32x32 icon images for dialogs.
I realize that there are other tutorials on the web relating to dialogs. This is my version along with several of my custom utilities that I would like to contribute to new AutoLISP programmers that are just getting started with Dcl Dialogs.

Nice work Terry & also a hardy welcome to the swamp.
I like the way you take the user from simple to more complex tasks with easy to understand examples.
It should be very useful for anyone wanting to use DCL.

Welcome Terry;
Excellent work you have done!

Thank all of you for your comments and input. I will be working on Part 2 after the holidays and I welcome everyone’s suggestions for topics to include. There was so much information to cover in Part 1 to include all the basic tiles, that towards the end I wanted to touch on mode_tile, but couldn’t find a good place to include it. However, a few examples are found in DclCalcs. In Part 2, I will be including an edit_box function to accept any form of architectural notations or real numbers and convert it to architectural in the edit box. The variable will be stored as a real number for easy calculations later. I did not want to include architectural notation in the Part 1 version, as there are extra steps involved that may be confusing at first. Also architectural notation is specific to only the Engineering Departments that use it, or can benefit by it.
Your suggestions and comments for topics to include for Part 2 are welcome.
Thanks,
Terry Cadd

Heck I can't figure out that new fangled VBA stuff. I've been sticking to DCL I does everything I need it to do and more. I'm in the same boat (good or bad) ;-)

I use Protobox (shareware) to make my .dcl files. A very good tool !
There is no need to know the .dcl-language (only how to use it :) )
I'm using version 2.3, but I can't find that version any more. I think version 2.2 is available on this site (http://www.vba.cn/mcdown/list.asp?id=76)

I prefer ObjectDCL.

Just so you are aware, that is a cracked warez site that promotes pirated software.

Protobox isn't protected. There is only a request on the info dialog to pay for the program if you find it usefull.

Protobox is not a problem, promoting a cracked warez site is. At least it is for me.
