Edit a Solid?
« on: March 10, 2011, 11:49:34 PM »
Newbie when it comes to 3D. Using plain ACAD2006.
I need to move a hole I punched in a Solid, it is on a flange of an I beam.
Will I be better off starting over? Or can I fill the slotted hole with Union.
Or is there abetter way?

It's a long time since I've seen 2006 ..

Is the Command SOLIDEDIT available ?

SOLIDEDIT will do it, but if its a SLOT you'll need to make sure you select all 4 faces to be moved.  You can make the slot longer or shorter by selecting one round end face and moving it in line with the slot.

SOLIDEDIT > FACE > MOVE

I might have to revisit my habits, but for some reason long ago I got into the habit of drawing a cylinder to fill it, copying it over the required amount, doing a union then a subtract.

I love the solidedit command though, and use it all the time.  Might have to try the other way and see how I like it..
