Configuration Management
« on: January 25, 2011, 05:31:51 AM »
Hi all,

I've been working with Inventor Professional now for 2 years (from a standing start - I'd never used it before) and one problem I and more importantly our client is consistently finding is that our configuration management is pretty crap.

When we started the current project, we didn't make use of the included Vault software. This I now realise was a massive faux pas on our part as it would have stopped the issue we're now having with drawings having been issued, changed our end, but not up-rev'd and then re-issued to the client at the old revision.

Has anyone else hit upon a similar issue and if so, what was your solution?

Thanks in advance,

Alex.

For Inventor, no.  Our document control is meatware: very stubborn people who ensure the proper steps are followed.   :evil:
If you are going to fly by the seat of your pants, expect friction burns.

try {GreatPower;}
   catch (notResponsible)
      {NextTime(PlanAhead);}
   finally
      {MasterBasics;}

We had one of "those" people, but he left the company so we're stuck with doing it ourselves - which is bad because after a while you become blind to errors in the documentation.  :oops:
