i just wanted to post something here because it was looking so lonely
dan
-
That's nice
-
Yah....
Dan's a caring and sensitive soul......... Now all we need is Dent to bring us back down to earth.
-
Dent don't do mechanical. Except for them multi-battery things used late at night.........never mind.
-
nice utters dent
-
Yeah, how would you like to suckle on them teats?!
Kinda gives to meaning to the phrase "A roll in the hay"
-
Machanical.......yeah ! yeah ! yeah ! :)
-
You work with MDT Eddie?
-
Have done some work on MDT
-
what softwares (autoCAD,mathcad ,solidworks or others)are mainly used among US mechanical engineer?
-
AutoCAD MDT is probably the most prevalent, but solidworks also has a niche
-
I assume this would be the place to post questions regarding to AutoCAD Mechanical as well. Am I wrong?
-
No, I would say you're not wrong.
-
Seeing as how the position I applied for mentioned putting me in mechanical, I thought I would read a bit in here when I came across this thread and then looked at the dates. Maybe I have a better chance than I thought due to it's emptiness? :-D Wait, why would no one want to go into mechanical?? :? Does the mechanical community have a secret forum elsewhere? 8-)
Seriously, any ideas on the outlook for mechanical drafters?
-
Mechanical Desktop (MDT) has not been offered for sale as product by Autodesk for many years. Apparently the forum moderator has never heard of the replacement product - Autodesk Inventor.

What make you think that? Did a previous discussion with the forum moderator lead to to believe your claim? Or could you just be Psychic?! ...I bet its the latter huh?! Can you tell me what the winning lottery numbers are going to be (Send them to me in a PM though, cause im greedy!).
Seriously though, your not as dumb as a bag of hammers like this post leads me to believe...are you?
-
Yikes, sorry I brought this one back! I was referring to the industry, not the program.
-
YOU have no need to apologize. This is just an old left over forum that perhaps needed some dust blown out of it. What sort of work were you thinking your new employer was speaking of with "mechanical"? There are mechanical "pieces parts" type drawings and also HVAC / plumbing / fire protection type drawings also referred by some as "mechanical" that are also sometimes found in shops that do electrical work.
-
I would be doing the plumbing redlines in the plumbing HVAC department...to start...in a shop that does electrical work. :-)
-
I would imagine then that this would be what they were referring to as mechanical. I have done this type of work in the pre-CAD days back when I was doing mostly electrical . . . fun stuff . . . I sometimes wish I were still a "sparky."
-
Good to hear. You think I will eventually get promoted from mechanical to electrical? (Being new to the industry I have lots of funky questions.)
-
I think I would call that more a lateral move but yes, if expressed interest in helping the electrical guys doing similar chores as you are for the plumbing you may wind up doing that. The ideal would be get experience in both so when you are ready for more responsibilities you can go into either one if an opportunity presents itself. Either is a good place for learning basics.
-
I will have to see what I can do after I settle in a bit. I was interviewed by the electrical guy for the mechanical dept. (due to his company status) and he explained that he stayed in electrical and generally had no idea what was going on in the mechanical department so I don't know how easy it will be.
-
*bleah...Sparkies!*
*I* wouldnt call that a lateral move, i would call that a vacation. I could go from, "Dude you missed a mechanical room and cost this project a million dollars!" to "Dude, you missed one of those dollar sign thingies."
:)~

A post that disses sparkies whilst seemingly failing a continuity test is quite amusing.

And then you follow it up with a post that ruins the mood.

In stark contrast to yours.

I dont get it.

I dont get it.
I attempted a funny. Greg posted a killjoy. I commented on the contrast, illuminating the irony. I sprayed coffee on my computer. If I could have said it in less it would have been a haiku.

Yeah....typically.

yea... because now that Inventor is around, we all know that NO ONE would stick with MDT...
and NO ONE uses Autocad 2000, or 2004... let alone R12 *gasp*
oh wait... no... that's not right at all! ;)

*psst* (https://www.theswamp.org/index.php?topic=289.msg249001#msg249001) a funnier response wouldn't have been so damn literal.

I was just thrilled that someone else took over the title of "Most short sighted comment of the year" before January came around :P

Liar! You already inflated the prices so outrageously that the reduction is a spit in the face!

Dear Greg,
We at 7goo, inc, feel a situation has just presented itself which calls for an insult to be directed at you, however you have reached your limit of insults.
I would also like to take this brief moment of your time to inform you of our latest rate increase. *Please keep this notice for your records in a safe and secure place for future reference.*
It is our goal at 7goo, inc. to offer the highest quality insults at the cheapest rates, however recent price hikes in the oil industry has caused us to raise our current rate in an attempt to offset some (not all) of those costs.
Would you like to continue and accept all charges or cancel now and pay current bill?
Yes, accept charges and receive the next three insults at the new rate?
No, cancel and pay my bill?
Thank you for your time.
Yours truly,
Se7en

We treat every customer like they are our only customer.

You should choose your clients more wisely. I have been unemployed for a number of years now, raising my children. I am unable to afford any reciprocity at this time. :-D (all in good fun, of course  )
