A point in the right direction would be appreciated. I am seeking a program that will convert graphics files such as tiff and bmp to a dwg file, it does not need to be super accurate, but I would like it to convert the graphics to AutoCAD line objects so I can grab complex drawings that are scanned and save myself some editing time.

8) There are several programs that can do this....
Try CadOVERlay from autodesk or RasterCAD (not sure on the maker) and I saw this on another cad forum - "Go to CAdalyst site and check their newsletter files"
Hope this helps.

Thx .. I have one that Cab sent me, but I will be looking at others. I am not sure how often I would need it, so I am reluctant to purchase a high end product.

Keith, what AutoCad package are you running? I don't know about all of the offers, but my company uses the Land Developement Dektop via the subscription service from AutoDesk. Evidently you get extra stuff when you use the Desktop packages. I was expecting AutoCad, the Civil pac and the Survey pac when we purchase AutoCad. Then they threw in Map and CadOverlay (evidently now called "Autodesk Raster Design". Odd, they send me stuff I don't need and short change others ? AHHHH AutoDesk !!! You gotta love 'em!!!

Keith,
You can also try Corel Draw. It has worked fine for me in the past. Here is a page to download a free 30 day trial. http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel2/Products/Home&pid=1047022690654

They didn't send it with your LDT pac ? They're supposed to. I think.
-
They only send it for subscription holders I thought. At the same time, we're not supposed to give that stuff out, either.

I had Overlay and SurveyCAD with R14, but I never did figure it out. Now I am using A2k2-ADT and A2k4
