open dwg as read only from window explorer?

its a long story why im wanting to do this, but is there a way to make dwgs to someone read only if they use windows explorer to open them?

Keep a cricket bat handy until they get in the habit of using TrueView.  Keep it mounted high on the wall in full view of everybody.   :evil:

If they start AutoCAD first, make sure it comes up with a blank "Drawing1.dwg" file which you can test for.  If they double-click-open a file it will open straight to that file.  In that case set a switch to re-open all files as read-only (or in TrueView) and close the file that was opened (both needing to be done via vla- methods).

If clicking from windows explorer, you can right click on the file, select properties. near the bottom of the tab is a box for read only.

that's file specific though.  I think the OP is wanting any autocad file that's opened by yahoos-in-general, via explorer, to have the file be in 'read only' mode automatically

oops... that won't work for all dwg's

can't you change the default program to open with on the yahoos computer to open with true view?

should be able to by right-clicking on a 'dwg' file, selecting "open with" from the short-cut menu, then picking the program to use when double-clicked in the explorer window
