Title: hatch by selecting object first
Post by: rktect3j on October 17, 2011, 12:14:12 PM
Is there a way to select an object first, say a polygon, and somehow hatch inside this polygon without having to first select the hatch icon or command?

New information:

I am asking this for a coworker so.....

What she wants to do is to utilize microsoft Access program where there is a database.  In this database she can choose many different objects, actually addresses which correspond to objects in autocad, which have data associated with them.  So out of 5000 or more addresses, she will choose 5, 10 or more which then highlights them in autocad.  At this point she wants to add hatch.  To go through these steps first and get to the highlighted areas, then choose the hatch icon, then nullifies the highlited objects.

Wow.  30 visits and no responses.

Must be something very out of the ordinary.

Pretty sure the best application for this wouldd be to use MAP and a Link Template, Themed Map display.

OR

Select the objects
Initiate the MOVE command and then Cancel
Select Hatch then S for object seleltion and then use P (for Previous selection set)

Would that be necessary if the Access program already selects the objects?  You should be able to start the hatch command and use P to select the previously selected objects.

Very simple and effective.
