One of our CAD stations refuses to run AutoCAD. He's running ACAD 2007 under XP-Pro. Avast antivirus comes up with win32 malware-gen each time acad.exe is launched, and blocks AutoCAD from launching.
I've never heard of this malware problem affecting AutoCAD before.
A system restore seemed to work OK, but did not eliminate the problem. Right now we're running a full system scan, which will take another hour, but I suspect it will find the virus, delete it, and it will be right back at boot time, because of a root kit or something similar on his PC.
Any ideas?

Hey, good news!
This problem went away, after a lot of hair pulling, scanning, and moaning.
As far as I can figure, the latest Avast update caused a false positive in AutoCAD. A subsequent update just hours later made it go away.
At no time did a regular system scan turn up any malware. It was evidently just the real-time scanner that was blocking autoCAD.

You guys using a Server base version of Avast?

No, 7 of us are on standalone editions of Avast Pro.
The "server" is on Microsoft Security Essentials, as is my machine.
"Server" is a realative term, as we are just 8 operators all on peer-to-peer.

We have 10 people in our office and we have MS exchange server so we we are again thinking to use a server based anti-virus software so that everyone is on the same page. 7 of us are currently on Norton's stand alone but 3 others and the server are on a server based Anti-virus software called CA. It is a piece of crap and it did not play well with Autocad.
