By all means lock 'em

When I was first learning about mnu's and custom toolbars, I didn't realize that I was changing the network files.....until the Boss and other drafter started their workstations and had ~ 50 smiley faces wishing them a "Good Morning".

Maybe newer versions don't do that, (CUI? ? ?), but...Read Only!   (and backup  )

Hey PHX, yep we all have learned the hard way LOL
I miss Mr. Smiley Face 
Now with the cui file, you have 2 pathes; one is for main and that is the one that is customizable and you have enterprise, that is the company one and is read only to everyone except the person that is responsible for customizing it.
So, the one customizing it needs to have the company cui as main.
You can also make multiple profiles with different pathes if you want to  go back and fourth
