Blocks..aaahh! theres more than twenty
« on: March 08, 2007, 05:06:17 PM »
I only have 20 fingers and toes.  Therefor, if I have populated a drawing with say, 300 doors, and i cant count that high.  Dos'nt AutoCAD have a function to count a specific Block?  It seems that would be a normal need of designers.  I curntly use a ticker to count off of a plotted dwg. :ugly:

bcount dosnt work in LT.  I do have autoCAD 2000i that is a full version.  I suppose I can save down and try it.  Ive never used bcount, is there anything I should know beforehand.

qselect should meet his needs. Not exactly pretty, but will get him a count.

That is looking at 2002LT.

oK, Ive tried qselect - i have: Current Selection, block reference, color, =equals, by block, include in new selection - now where do I find the 'count'?  Is it in the General list, Geometry, Misc, or Attributes :?

now that the selection is active, open the propertyies tab and see how many it lists as being selected at the top.

Drop the E and try again. :-) (ATTEXT)

E means "enhanced" in commands like EATTEXT and EATTEDIT -- the "un-enhanced" versions work in LT if you drop the initial E.

Wow. Thanks.  That qselect is a 'dirty' way but it will work.  I feel kinda dumb having not caut on to that before, though. Im gonna try the 'drop'n the E' in a little while Kate- i have to get some dwg's to the field, so i will try it when I get back.
Thanks to everyone!! :-)
