On the lighter side :
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:48:30 AM »

Came across a definition today that was interesting

Deadline :
a line drawn within or around a prison that a prisoner passes at the risk of being shot

I'll be wary next time someone tells me I'm on a deadline .

I was reminded of this today

Quote from: Alice through the Looking Glass

"When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less."

Reading Aesop's Fables on my transit this morning.

'Birds of a feather flock together' is not really such a pretty story. :)

Make your questions as specific as possible. Don't ask things like "Need help" or "What's wrong?" Do ask things like "2.2 Why won't my boomerang come back in method throwAndCatch?"

Remember, when we program we are talking with a computer.
It probably won't know that "car" is equal to "automobile",
or that "pizza" is greater than "day-old sushi".

If one wrote: "Car is equal to automobile", he would be writing the truth, well, more or less...
If on the other hand one wrote: ""car" is equal to "automobile"", he would be writing a falsehood, be it for the simple reason that "car" contains three letters and "automobile" contains more than three letters.

Quote from: codecademy
A wife asks her husband,
"Could you please go shopping for me and buy one carton of milk, and if they have eggs, get 6."

A short time later the husband comes back with 6 cartons of milk.
The wife asks him, "Why did you buy 6 cartons of milk?"

He replied, "They had eggs."

Reminds me of the guy who came to an untimely end,
he asked his wife if she'd run over to the store and get him some beer,
when she said No,
he ran over himself....

With Python and F#, when your punctuation's off, your meaning can change entirely.

Code - F#: [Select]
  1. The peasant said, "The witch turned me into a newt!"

Code - F#: [Select]
  1. "The peasant," said the witch, "turned me into a newt!"

... a silly example, but I thought it was amusing ...

I got better
Everyone has a photographic memory, Some just don't have film.
They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy Bacon and that's a close second.
Sometimes the question is more important than the answer. (Thanks Kerry for reminding me)
