Wipeout Help?
« on: March 11, 2009, 12:20:30 PM »
I have recently discovered the 'Background Mask' in the MText Dialog box. - This is pretty cool.

So, after checking the help file, I discovered what I believe is the same type of thing, except for blocks - 'wipeout'

So, I tried using it in the attached block, to keep the vertical like from showing thru the block. (I hope that makes sense).

When I tried making the Wipeout in the Block Editor, it gives me the following message 'The polyline must be closed and made up of only line segments.'

I believe that it IS a close Polyline and it is made up of multiple segments.

What am I missing?

I only used ACAD 2000 to look at the DWG but did you try to use an ARC, only strait segments allowed.

No, I made a rectangle then Filleted the corners.

It was the curves that was doing it.

As soon as I created it without the curves, the Wipeout worked great.

Thanks

Yea, a rectangle is actually a polyline object that is closed.  filleting the corners creates arc-segments at each corner, so despite it being a polyLINE, it actually does contain ARCs, which, as the Commander said, throws the wipeouts for a loop.

What I've done in the past to mimic arcs for wipeouts is to use a POLYGON with many sides.
