Edit anonymous block
« on: October 04, 2012, 06:53:40 AM »
I have a drawing that has been converted from MicroStation which now needs to be xreffed into another file. I have set it so that all the objects are now BYLAYER, but there are a few anonymous blocks that still have over-rides.

Is it possible to edit an anonymous block, or how can I rename it (on 2011) so I can edit it.  I tried the rename command and all I get is "Invalid block name".

Any help/advice would be great.

Thanks in advance.
T :)

+1.  Exactly what I've done in the same situation.

Thanks all. I will look into all those options tomorrow. I was just about to start looking at them and I was pulled onto a different job :)

Krush, the refedit wouldnt let me edit anonymous blocks. :(

But thanks to the 2 of you who suggested the setbylayer command... how long has that been there?

Wow.  I really need to get some training for all the commands I have missed over the years... and I bet there's a lot of them as we tend to skip many versions :(

Yeah, I hear ya. My company just made a huge leap in versions. I was able to play with new versions as they came out because I process a lot of incoming files. But using a newer version regularly I am constantly discovering new stuff. Keep your eye on the command line. I am finding a lot of new options for old commands, too.

also get to know your Right mouse click menu.  Autocad returns a lot of options and commands for objects that are currently selected.

If you could, please post one of those blocks. I would like to take a look at it.  ACA creates anonymous blocks and has tools to edit them.  So I am curious.
