renumber tag lables
« on: March 16, 2011, 04:05:01 PM »
I am following directions to learn how to utilize line tags and tables. The object is to renumber the line labels. The directions say to click on one of the line labels then choose the RENUMBER TAGS tool from the labels and tables panel. I don't seem to have one.

Am I supposed to be looking on the annotate tab, labels & tables panel?

If not, where is it?

IIRC you are using 2010, so.....

Providing you have:
Pickfirst set to 1
RIBBONCONTEXTSELECT set to 1
A Line/Curve label selected

Then the Ribbon should auto-change to look like I have shown.

OR, click the Modify Tab, then the Parcel icon on the Design panel, then on the right side of the new Parcel Panel will be the Renumber Tags option.

I was able to accomplish the goal by going to the modify tab.

I did not, however, get the "Labels - Parcel and segment" context sensitive ribbon when I picked on a label. I checked to make sure that

Providing you have:
Pickfirst set to 1
RIBBONCONTEXTSELECT set to 1
was set and it is.

I checked the cui, but did not see that particular ribbon option. I did check the label ribbon, and it has a renumber button, but it's not context sensitive.

Any ideas? I would like the context sesative ribbon, but can deal without it.

sadly some commands are NOT yet incorporated into the RIBBON within C3D

Notably missing...Draw Parts in Profile View for pipe networks...and a few others.

I'll stop there before I start ranting on.

A phone call to my trustworthy trainer here and we discovered that the context sesitivity ribbon does not come up with alignments, but does with parcels, lines and polylines.....

go figure.

isn't that what I said?  Prepare to find more instances where the Ribbon is a FAIL.

Yes it is exactly what you said. I just happened to get the phone call before I read your post.

I never had problems with contextual ribbons (at least in 2011 version). It is also possible to edit the contents of the contextual ribbons, like adding panels. I really am a huge fan of contextual ribbons! :-)
