( C3D 2008 ) Many points
« on: June 12, 2007, 10:48:39 AM »
I successfully imported 119568 points from an comma delimited ASCII file into C3D. Even did a zoom extents! I was also able to save the file, which took a little while. Doing anything in the drawing is rather slow as you can imagine. I might try a surface later this week. :-)

I wouldn't think one could have that many topo points in the whole STATE of Florida.  Do you have some groups for utilities, etc. that you can break away from the points you need for a surface?

Did you actually import those as full-fledged Cogo points, or did you use the Point File option to add the points directly to the surface without creating Cogo points?

This was only a test, the points came from a LAMP test job we did a few years ago. Most, if not all of the points will be used for the surface, if I try to build it.

Yep, real cogo points.

How big is this area you covering?  It must be huge or are you looking for something like half foot contours.  The surface for the project I posted the plat for has only a couple thousand points and it is 160+ acres and almost 100 foot elevation change and 3 different drainages.

It's about 4 miles of roadway.
