Title: Trouble purging a dimstyle
Post by: jonesy on April 15, 2008, 06:01:10 AM
Well guys, by the time I get this job up and running smoothly, I'll either be bald or completely grey.

I have a new problem regarding drawing sheets today  :-)

The drawing I have attached has a dimstyle within the drawing. Trouble is, I cannot find any objects creates by the dimscale to erase them, I have a suspicion it could be something to do with the proxy message I get when saving the file (but I could be mistaken).

I need to get rid of the dimstyle, does anyone have any ideas how I could achieve this?
I've purged and repurged the drawing, I've gone into the block editor and erased everything, then purged, but the dimstyle is still there.

Many thanks in advance
T :)

This dwg-file has proxy, which referenced to dimstyle SCALE 1 DASH-DOT. I've remove all proxies and can purge this dimstyle.

Thank you so much Alexander. I had my suspicions that it was the proxy.

If you dont mind sharing, how did you get rid of it? I had tried saving it to a r14 version, and a dxf, but it wouldnt go.

Tracey, R12 DXF will remove all proxy data, but it also removes MText and converts stacked dimensions to blocks and pretty well strips out lots of other stuff, but otherwise keeps the geometry intact. If all you need is the geometry and can make preparations for the mtext, you can R12 DXF and remove all of the proxy data.

Thanks Keith
I "thought" I'd tried it as r12, but I guess it must've been a newer version dxf I saved as because it still came up with the proxy dialog box. (Either that or operator error)

Anyway, thanks for the help both of you :)

Try my utility ExplodeProxy (commands _EXPLODEALLPROXY and _REMOVEALLPROXY after loading ExplodeProxyNNNN.arx): http://www.maestrogroup.com.ua/support/ExplodeProxy.zip

Which format of file you can download?

Post by: jonesy on April 15, 2008, 10:05:05 AM
Very few formats unfortunately, and I'm not sure which. We dont now until we get a webpage telling us we're doing something we shouldnt be doing.

I will be going home in 15 minutes, so I can download from home, and bring it into work tomorrow.

Thanks for ALL your help. Very much appreciated

Morning Alexander.
I tried your arx file, but it didnt delete any proxy objects. (Could you check that I'm doing it right please)

Explodeproxy2007.arx is working in AutoCAD 2007 as well as 2008 and 2009. If you are using Map there is no proxies objects. I remove proxies in "pure" AutoCAD. Sorry for russian messages - I has not time to translate it in english.

Our map has all the map functionality removed by routines when we first load the program. So we are using it as vanilla ACAD, but as you saw the proxys are AEC(?) proxy objects which I cannot delete.

Because the one I posted was part of a multiple tab template, the whole template has now been "infected"

Post full template or:
1) set DEMANDLOAD to 0
2) restart AutoCAD
3) open template
4) _EXPLODEALLPROXY and _REMOVEALLPROXY
5) _PURGE
6) set DEMANDLOAD to 3
7) save template

Thanks for all your time and effort Alexander.

I'd just missed out the demandload.

All works wonderfully

Hello Alexander,

I have a drawing with a proxy that I can't find to remove.
I tried your earlier suggestion...

1) set DEMANDLOAD to 0
2) restart AutoCAD
3) open template
4) _EXPLODEALLPROXY and _REMOVEALLPROXY
5) _PURGE
6) set DEMANDLOAD to 3
7) save template

But on step 4 all I get is Unknown Command for either command.
I've tried with the _ in front and without.
I'm using AutoCAD 2009.
Do you know if these commands are available in 2009?
I've attached a copy of my drawing

Thank you,
Steve

1) Latest version of ExplodeProxy:  http://www.maestrogroup.com.ua/support/ExplodeProxy.zip
2) If you set DEMANDLOAD in 0 you need to load ExplodeProxy2007.arx manually (with command _APPLOAD).

Thank you,
I have downloaded th ZIP and extracted ExplodeProxy2007.arx. and the TXT file.
Question:  Do you have a copy of the TXT file in English that you could share?
Thank you again,
Steve

No. It is more easy for me to write program than to write docs for it.  :-)

Have a good day.
