I use BitBucket too as I have other people's code I have to look after :)

Finally I want to sum up:

Thanks for the postings and detailed and motivated postings.
A little bit surprising (for me) is that apparently nobody uses a local version of VCS.

I don't know the answer, but I suppose two versions of reactions:
a) They don't like questions in this common and not precise style.
b) I will get the VCS version of "Editor war plus Browser war"  ;-)
