Shift + Scroll initiates the 3d PAN...
but Shift + Right Click initiates the context menu which I always use... I am working on a MAC and when I am using the magic mouse... instead of a left click the mac reads the click as a scroll... which makes may drawing rotate on 3D... this frustrated me so I used the regular mouse with a scroll wheel...
Is there any system variable I can use to turn off the shift + scroll for 3d pan?
Thanks!

Why is the MAC version using different terminology?
I think by 3d PAN you mean orbit.
I do not think you can turn off that behavior.
As to the magic mouse, I'm guessing that the setting would be in the mouse settings.

If MAC is similar to WIN, the option for "Transparent Orbit" and "Snap Menu" (I assume this is what you mean for context?) is under the CUI / Mouse Buttons / Shift+Click. Perhaps they are backwards?
I'm not sure what a shift and scroll is?

Shift[hold]+scroll mouse up and down it will rotate the UCS...
Shift[hold]+scroll button pressed and moved around it will go into 3d orbit and rotate on the z-axis...
i want to turn it off so because I only do 2D drawings most of the time...

Navigate to the CUI settings I mentioned above and you should be able to delete/clear assignment them
